We offer professional training in the performing arts to adults in and around Devon. We believe that irrespective of their disability many have a talent but have just not been given the opportunity. We want them to follow their ambitions and dreams.

We registered as a charity in late 2024 to support adults with disabilities across North Devon in achieving their dreams and desired careers in the performing arts.

We are determined to support our talented adults who dedicate their efforts to showcasing their capabilities. Any funds raised will be thoughtfully invested in their development, including hiring theatres, studios, or professional instructors to enrich their opportunities, empowering each individual to be the very best they can be.

Our Founding

The Dance Cafe was started to prove to the wider public that no matter an individuals' challenges; when given the right opportunity, belief and guidance, wonderful things can be achieved. We believe that each person has something to offer and we provide the platform that will let them shine.

Our Growth

Still in our infancy, we at The Dance Cafe welcome adults from in and around Devon.

We would like to stretch to reach all those in rural areas.

My name is Randa, I am 31 years old and I joined The Dance Cafe in 2024. I had never thought of acting or dancing before, but once I joined the team, I really enjoy learning new routines with my friends. I love live theatre and baking ...well eating the goodies I bake.

Hi my name is Tom and I am 28 years old I enjoy a very busy life , I am very sociable and have lots of friends , I am very proud to play football with the local disability football club , I have been in many shows over the years , and really enjoy show day, I find the rehearsals hard but I stick with it!

My name is Olly and I’m 23 years old. I really enjoy my time with Dance Cafe and learning new acts with my friends. It’s very important that I try my best so that everyone will be proud of me. I enjoy Swimming and have previously represented the South West at Special Olympics and The Down syndrome swimming championships.

My name is Maisy, my age is 19 and I love being in The Dance Cafe. Since joining in 2024, dance and performing is my life and it has changed my life. Everything my dance teacher has taught me to dance is really fun.

My name is Kian, I am 19 years old and I have always wanted to be on stage singing and dancing. The Dance Cafe has helped me a lot since I first started and I love dancing with my mates.

My name is Daisy and I am almost 30 years old. I love to sing and dance, one day I will be famous. My hobbies are painting, drawing and video games. I'm a cool auntie. Being in The Dance Cafe show is good fun and I am excited about the 'Musicals' show this year.

Hi my name is Craig I like to go over to Hele where I work. I enjoy going to the dance cafe because I like to dance. I also like to go and watch Barnstaple Town football, I am also the goalie for the disability football team

My name is Stephen, if I'm not dancing at the cafe then I'm dancing to my favourite band, JLS. I love going to the cinema or watching old westerns. I really enjoy nature documentaries, most of all if they are about Wolves, I have a wolf tattoo, it's howling (and so was I when I got it, so I'm not getting anymore).

I play football, tennis and go to the gym, I also work at a local pub.

Hi my name is Melissa and I enjoy playing football and dancing with my friends and I also enjoy working lots I'm a bit of a workaholic and the dance means a lot to me because it helps me to be me and it makes me feel known.

My name is Emily, I am 20 years old and I have been dancing since I was 7. I enjoy The Dance Cafe because I like meeting new friends and I love to learn new dance routines for the show.

Hi my name is Lauren and I am 26. I have performed from a young age. In 2013 I won centre stage school student for my growth in confidence. I acted as a gothic teacher in the School of Rock. I love to read, bake, play sports. It's amazing to be a member of The Dance Cafe an inclusive group allowing everyone to freely express themselves.

I joined The Dance Cafe in 2024. I am 34 years old and I have always loved performing but The Dance Cafe has taken it to another level. It's the best fun and I love and look forward to it and seeing all my friends every week. It's given me so much to look forward to.

My name is Lisa. I am a full-time baker. In my spare time I love to dance, sing, play football, paint and cycle. I enjoy spending my time with my family and friends. I love being part of The Dance Cafe and really enjoy learning the routines. I can't wait to perform in the shows!

My name is Alice and I am 25 years old. I like travelling, particularly on trains, boats and automobiles .... I love trying new foods, going to parties and dancing; and I absolutely adore film, theatre and music.

Hi my name is Aaron and I'm 26 years old and I love the dance cafe. I am generally quiet but since I joined the dance cafe along with my friends I have really become more confident and now I just love dancing and acting.

My name is Alex and I am 27 years old. This is my first year in The Dance Cafe and I am really enjoying it. I have always loved music, dance and singing and through The Dance Cafe I am able to do what I love most with my friends.

My name is James, I really enjoy being part of the dance cafe, it is fun and I love being on stage.

I'm a keen gardener, I volunteer at Rosemoor, and my favourite job is cutting the grass.

I enjoy going on walks, baking, eating nice food and having the occasional beer or two. I especially like spending time with my friends and family. I'm good at doing arts and crafts and I enjoy watching football especially Manchester United and Portsmouth.
